Word of Promise

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

I recently at the recommendation of a friend picked up the 20 CD set called Word of Promise, and I just have to encourage everyone out there to go and order a copy. It is an audio drama of the New Testament using the New King James version of the Bible that has over 120 actors and actresses involved in it. And it is just fanominal. Besides the fact that James Caviezel from “The Passion of the Christ” is in it voicing Jesus and doing a great job, there is just a fullness that brings you into the scriptures like you would not image. It is not the big names, but the way they use professional sound effects and state of the art recordings to create a sound scape that draws you in and makes you feel like you are in the room when these events are happening. It literally brings the Scriptures alive and makes it a must have and for 20 CD it is less than $30 and you can order it with the movie “The Passion of the Christ” if you like.

Here is the excerpt from the website:

The Word of Promise is a New Testament Audio Bible, dramatized by an all-star cast of actors, including Jim Caviezel as Jesus, with Marisa Tomei, Louis Gossett Jr., and many more. This audio Bible is produced with state of the art audio technology, including sound effects and an original musical score. This is a new experience in audio Bibles like none before. Take a listen today!

The Christian Writer’s Market 2009 Review Coming

Friday, January 9th, 2009

I am excited because my copy of the Christian Writer’s Market 2009 arrived today and it is every bit as good as I expected it to be. A review of the book is coming the week of January 26th – January 30th, but let me just let you know that if you are a Christian Writer or want to be one this book is essential to your library because it lists everything you need to go from writing your masterpiece at home to getting it into the hands of the professionals who will put it in the market. Oh, oh, oh, I can’t wait to get into this one and then let you in on all the goodness.

The Shack Reviewed

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

A lot of people have been asking me about a new book called “The Shack” and suggesting that I read it. Well, after some careful research on the web, I have decided that I will not waste my time on this book and I believe that you should not either. To show you why, I have copied the contents of a review from another blog (link below) which spells out the dangers of this book and how it’s theology is very anti-biblical. I know that it is a work of fiction, but even when God spoke in fictional parable they still portrayed God properly and this book does not achieve that. Read this review for yourself and make your own decision, but as for me and my house we will serve God and not read this book.

The Shack Review

August 8th, 2008

A friend from church wrote a brief review of “The Shack” that touches on some key points as to why we should be cautious about this book. Or maybe even disregard it all together. He gave me permission to share this review.
